Allie + Phil : NYC meets KY
Brace(y) yourself, it’s time to get Funk(y)
When Allie Funk + Phil Bracey (get the dorky pun now?) inquired into our services for their wedding day, we met via Zoom. Not unusual in our “unprecedented times” but absolutely necessary because of the couples’ location in New York City. So, what brings two hip, cosmopolitan, millennials to Kentucky to tie the knot? Allie is from Jeffersonville, Indiana—a quick hop across the new(ish) Lewis and Clark, aka East End, Bridge.
The couple had already settled on the gorgeous grounds at Hermitage Farm to host their destination wedding and hired Erin Trimble to photograph, so the wedding planning was off to a fantastic start. Then Allie said something to the effect of, “I love cool, unique blooms and I appreciate your artistic approach,” and my heart began to sing.
The couple knew they wanted a minimal but artistic style at both ceremony and reception. The Hermitage provides jaw-dropping floor to ceiling windows with whimsical drop lights to add an extra dose of beautiful. The ceremony and reception would be taking place in the same room, with a quick cocktail hour in-between. We knew it would be all hands on deck to flip the space to get it party ready ASAP. The staff at Hermitage were absolute super stars and we all came together to make it happen.
All beauty aside, my absolute favorite memory of their wedding was right after the ceremony. Nic and I were waiting out of sight for the ceremony to end so we could start the room flip. Allie and Phil burst out of the venue, hand in hand. Their excitement was palpable. They looked at each other, high-fived, gasped, yelled, jumped, kissed. It was pure adrenaline and “I just married my best freaking friend!” moment…
….and I could not be more happy for them. Congratulations Allie + Phil!!!
